Research Groups
The CCABA was set up with the aim of consolidating a multi-disciplinary research group: the Broadband Communications (CBA), the Broadband Networks (BAMPLA), the Optical Communications (GCO) and the Mobile Communications (GRCM) groups.
This research group belongs to the Computer Architecture Department. Most of the topics covered by this research group are strongly related with B-ISDN/ATM networks and broadband services and applications: ATM switching, protocol development, source traffic modeling, network resource management policies and bandwidth allocation, traffic and congestion control on ATM networks, routing strategies for ATM networks, ATM local area networks, internetworking through ATM, network management, multicast over ATM, quality of service management and transport protocols over ATM

The group of broadband belongs to the Department of Engineering Telematics of the Polytechnical University of Catalonia, has twelve years of existence. The main research area is in the field of the modeled one of traffic, protocols of access to means and management of resources in networks IP of high speed

The Optical Communications Group (GCO) is part of the Signal Theory and Communications Department (TSC). Our key research areas involve Optical Fiber Technologies, Raman Spectroscopy and High-Speed Networking. Our experience is related to optical wavelength domain transport and access networks (WDM, HDWDM, SCM), broadband fiber transmission, sources and receivers, all-optical amplification, optical heterodyne detection, wavelength stabilization and monitoring, transparent WDM network architectures and management, optical linear and non-linear distortions,polarization/PMD treatment and network quality monitoring

The Mobile Communications Research Group belongs to the Department of Signal Theory and Communications of the UPC. At present it focuses its main activity on the area of Mobile Communications where it is active in developing research work on modulation, equalization, synchronization, coding related with the transport layers for both TDMA and CDMA access techniques
